Rhys Evans crafts BioGro certified organic wines from his family’s vineyard in Havelock North. The Evans family story of fruit growing started with the Village Orchard in the late 70s and has evolved to wine growing with Village Vineyards today. The sense of connection from working together has kept them going all these years. Rhys, Jenny and Dai handle everything on Te Mata Road from pruning to picking to pouring at their cellar door. An organic philosophy underscores their farming practise, and the wines are made in a low-intervention style that is authentic and expressive.
