19 Jun HAWKE’S BAY WINE AUCTION HEADS NORTH WITH INAUGURAL AUCKLAND PREVIEW + TASTING EVENING
For the first time in our 34-year history, we’re heading north with the launch of our inaugural Auckland Preview + Tasting Evening.
Wine lovers will have the opportunity to experience an exclusive preview of the 2026 Hawke’s Bay Wine Auction at Caro’s Wine Merchants in Grey Lynn on Tuesday 28 July, ahead of our annual auction in Hawke’s Bay on Saturday 12 September.
Hosted by Master of Wine Mike Henley and Event Ambassador Mike McRoberts, the evening will offer guests the rare opportunity to meet our winemakers, hear the stories behind this year’s auction lots, and taste 20 wines from the 2026 collection. Many of these wines are unavailable anywhere else, having been created exclusively for the auction.
As the largest private annual fundraiser for Cranford Hospice, the Hawke’s Bay Wine Auction has raised more than $5 million for hospice care while showcasing the very best of Hawke’s Bay winemaking.
Hawke’s Bay Wine Auction General Manager Sam Kershaw said the Auckland event marked an exciting new chapter for the auction.
“We are thrilled to be taking this event to Auckland, where we know there is a vibrant community of wine enthusiasts. Our winemakers are looking forward to meeting guests, sharing their wines and telling the stories behind them.”

The event is being held in partnership with The Wine Auction Room, which will once again provide live online bidding for the Hawke’s Bay Wine Auction in September, allowing both individuals and syndicates from around New Zealand to take part.
