Description

Auction Lot Details

Six bottles vertical of Grüner Veltliner from 2016 to 2020, including a Barrel Fermented Grüner from 2017, along with twelve bottles of our premium 2013 White Knuckle Hill Pinot Noir.

Our Lime Rock vineyard, on high north-facing limestone hills in Central Hawke’s Bay, is especially suitable for cooler climate wines and in particular Pinot Noir and aromatic white wines. Our grapes ripen 2-3 weeks later than the northern vineyard areas. A 230-270 m. altitude helps regulate ripening and contributes to distinctive flavours. Ecological practices and long-time experience in the industry set us apart.

Lot includes: 6 x 750 ml bottles Grüner Veltliner and 12 x 750 bottles White Knuckle Hill Pinot Noir

Additional Details

It’s more than just wines at Lime Rock, it’s a philosophy. It starts in the layers of soil, comes through in the vines and is expressed in the wines. It’s our Turangawaewae

Our cellar door is small, friendly and intimate. This is Pinot Noir limestone country.

Jancis Robinson put our 2009 Pinot Noir in her Top 100 Red Wines in the World, out of 10,000 wines she tasted in 2012. Our Grüner Veltliner, Pinot Gris, Sauvignon Blanc along with Merlot and Cabernet Franc are also distinctive and known for their flavour, length and characters from the limestone.

Often we offer a ‘limousine’ trip to the top of the vineyard to view the magnificent landscape and explain our ‘take’ on ‘vitecology’ (Rodger’s Word). Then always a tasting of our wines in large sumptuous Pinot Noir glasses, along with homemade bread in the cellar door. We enjoy a good conversation.

It’s our privilege to help support Cranford.

Bid with intensity and passion!
