Auction Lot Details

Specially created for the 2020 Hawke’s Bay Wine Auction, this unique wine is an assemblage of Merlot donated by members of the Gimblett Gravels Winegrowers Association. From the exceptional 2019 vintage, each member’s Gimblett Gravels® Merlot component has been expertly blended by winemaker Gordon Russell. 

Members contributing to this wine comprise: Babich, Church Road Winery, Craggy Range, Elephant Hill, Esk Valley Estate, Mission Estate, Pask Winery, Sacred Hill Vineyards, Stonecroft, Te Awa, Vidal Estate.

Covering 800ha in Hawke’s Bay, the Gimblett Gravels Wine Growing District® is an appellation defined by soil type. From these much celebrated soils, hail some of the world’s finest full bodied red wines. Founded in 2001, the Gimblett Gravels Winegrowers Association brings together some of New Zealand’s finest wine producers with a fervent respect for the concept of terroir, combined with modern day thinking to define, protect and market wine.
